Freshwater is limited
Oceans contain most of Earth’s water, but that water is salty. Only a small share of Earth’s water is freshwater, and much of it is stored in ice or underground.
Large data centers can require substantial water and electricity for cooling and operation. Communities deserve clear answers about how much water is being used, where it comes from, and how local supplies will be protected.
Data-center water use varies by facility, climate, cooling system, and power source. That is exactly why public reporting and responsible planning matter.

Many data centers remove heat through cooling systems that may consume water. Water demand can be especially important in hot or drought-prone regions.
Residents should be able to review projected water demand, drought plans, conservation measures, and alternatives before major facilities are approved.
Protecting water begins with informed local participation.
Request public estimates of annual and peak-day water use, the proposed water source, and drought-emergency plans.
Follow city councils, county boards, planning commissions, utility districts, and environmental-review hearings.
Use reliable sources and clearly separate measured data from projections or opinions.
Support recycled-water use, efficient cooling, transparent reporting, and safeguards for households, farms, and ecosystems.
My name is Ronni Stout. I started Save Our Fresh Water to raise awareness about the rapid growth of data centers and the pressure large new developments may place on local water supplies.
This project supports factual education, public transparency, responsible water use, and stronger community protections. The goal is to help ordinary people understand proposed projects and speak up before important decisions are made.
These public sources are a starting point. More state and local records will be added as the project grows.
